That the studio has now been split into two teams with one working on a new game alongside Subnautica: Below Zero was also news to me, and it certainly has me excited for whatever that announcement may be. (Not that his intentions were the only ones, just in this regard.) After watching this I feel a bit like I accidentally played the game like he intended it to be. Every time I encountered something dangerous I just noped the hell out there and came back later more cautious and calculating. Nor did I find myself using any Vortex or Gas Torpedoes, although I recall crafting and equipping my Seamoth with them. I found it quite amusing how Charlie repeatedly stated that he was so adamant about not having weapons in the game, because I myself did not use the Stasis Rifle even once in my 1.0 playthrough (although I did try it sometime during EA) and literally never felt I needed it, especially since carrying it meant 4 slots less in my inventory for crafting materials or other more useful things like beacons to mark out interesting locations. I'm a long time fan of Unknown Worlds, having spent countless nights playing both of the Natural Selection games and subsequently (heh) enjoying every minute of Subnautica, so this interview was right up my alley and thoroughly interesting.
